Nick Boyd, PhD
Nicholas Boyd is a PhD student in computer science at UC Berkeley. In June 2011, as an undergrad, he received degrees in both computer science and mathematics from UC Berkeley. His primary research interest is in practical methods for large-scale machine learning with applications to biology. Previously, Nick has worked on efficient, online algorithms for structured classification tasks and applications of machine learning to biology and natural language processing in both industry and academia. He believes that advances in learning algorithms, coupled with increases in computing power and dataset size, will allow for applications of machine learning with increasing real-world impact to many areas of science and engineering.
In his free time, Nick enjoys traveling and rock climbing. He is from Stanford, California.
