New report advises lawmakers on water resource issues

As aridification driven by changing climates threatens water supplies for communities across the Southwest, University of New Mexico researchers, led by Hertz Fellow Bruce Thompson, have crafted a report to guide New Mexico’s new state legislature towards sound and sustainable water policy.

“We were very excited to draw on the wisdom and experience of nine senior level administrators who, between them, have more than 75 years of service in senior level appointed positions requiring state or federal senate approval,” said Thomson, research professor in UNM’s Civil Engineering Department and chair of the conference organizing committee.
