Tri-Valley 2024 Energy Summit Features Hertz Fellow Kim Budil
The Hertz Foundation was a proud sponsor at the Innovation Tri-Valley (ITV) Energy Forum: 2024 Energy Summit on March 19, 2024.
The forum, “Building the Green Economy from the Epicenter of Solutions,” convened leaders from the energy, business, government, and education sectors to accelerate discussions on a regional green economy and amplify ITV’s innovative solutions for environmental stewardship and job creation.
The keynote speaker for the event, Hertz Fellow and Board Member Kimberly Budil, director of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), shared LLNL’sInnovation to Impact story. Budil sets the strategic vision for LLNL and exercises broad delegated powers to ensure successful execution of programs and operations to enhance national security through application of cutting-edge science and technology and to maintain an outstanding and diverse workforce.
Under Budil’s leadership, LLNL recently had a fusion breakthrough in the pursuit of clean, abundant energy—an accomplishment the US Department of Energy described as a ‘historic, first-of-its-kind achievement’ that will provide ‘invaluable insights into the prospects of clean fusion energy.’ The achievement of fusion ignition is a major scientific breakthrough decades in the making that will pave the way for advancements in national defense and the future of clean power.
ITV aims to connect the dots between public and private partnerships and works to nurture the ideas from academia and research institutions to industry, policy, and people to enable progress.
The Hertz Foundation and ITV recently announced a new partnership aimed at cultivating and connecting world-class talent in the Tri-Valley region of the Bay Area. Through special networking events and media coverage, this expanded partnership will spotlight how the Hertz Foundation has contributed to the Tri-Valley region and will help catalyze collaborations with ITV’s network of over 100 companies, non-profits, research labs, educational institutions and regional thought leaders.
