Po-Ling was previously an assistant professor in statistics in the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Po-Ling’s research interests lie in the growing intersection between statistics, electrical engineering and computer science. Po-Ling earned a best paper award at the Neural Information Processing Systems (NIPS) Conference in 2012 for her work on structure estimation in discrete graphical models. This work is relevant for statistical problems arising from social networks and epidemiology.

“I’ve been challenged as a researcher during discussions with members of the Hertz community at workshops and retreats. It’s an extraordinarily stimulating academic environment that I would not be able to find elsewhere!”
