Waltham, Mass.April 17, 2007 Polaris Venture Partners, a national venture capital firm with over $3 billion under management, today announced that Amir Nashat has been named a General Partner. Focused on investments in seed, early stage and growth equity life sciences companies, Nashat has played an integral role in the ongoing success of Polaris life sciences portfolio.
Nashat joined Polaris in April 2002 and represents the firm as a director on the boards of Athenix, Hydra Biosciences, Promedior, T2 Biosystems, WaveRx and Pervasis Therapeutics, Inc., where he also served as founding President. He also supports Polaris investments in GI Dynamics and BIND Therapeutics.

Nashat serves on the Board of the New England Venture Capital Association, the Advisory Board of the Simmons School of Management Entrepreneurship Initiative and as a Catalyst for the Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation at MIT.
Nashat earned both his M.S. and B.S. in Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. He completed his Ph.D. as a Hertz Fellow in Chemical Engineering at MIT with a minor in Biology under the guidance of Dr. Robert Langer. While at MIT, Nashat also completed an internship in the London office of Goldman, Sachs & Company.
