Luke Hunter, MD

2008 Hertz Fellow
Luke Hunter

Luke’s future interests lie in drug and protein design, human genomics and disease prediction, and biological interaction networks. Luke did NSF-funded research at Harvard Medical School and applied computational techniques to study chronic ischemia, diabetes, and heart disease. As an undergraduate, he conducted research in computational biology, motion planning, protein folding, and colloidal self-assembly. Luke also completed a research thesis on applying genetic algorithms to motion planning and protein folding problems. He continued this work at Harvard as a visiting undergraduate student and ultimately hopes to develop a diagnostic tool to predict disease. Luke graduated from Texas A&M University with degrees in physics and biochemistry and minors in computer science, chemistry, and math.
