Richard Darst studied the mechanics of biological systems and hopes to become a university professor, where he can teach scientific theory and inspire others to pursue chemistry. He researched the hydration of biomolecules while completing his undergraduate degree in chemical physics at the University of Texas at Austin. He also implemented and led a successful science "homework help" program. Involved with the Boy Scouts, he achieved Eagle Scout rank and continues to serve as a teacher for local Boy Scouts.
