Alexander Dunn is an assistant professor at Stanford University. Previously, he was a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford in the Biochemistry Department. He continues to work in biochemistry and biophysics under the direction of J. A. Spudich. He concentrates on single molecule spectroscopy and optical trapping, as well as protein biochemistry. His research focus is on the biophysics of the motor protein myosin. In 2003, he completed his PhD at California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and his thesis advisor was Professor Harry Gray. He received his BS in chemistry with honors, from Caltech in June 1998.
