Area of Study

Electrical Engineering

Fellowship Years

1998 - 2001

Kevin Bowers is head of research and development at a proprietary trading firm using techniques from computer science, electrical engineering and applied physics to deploy custom hardware, software, communications, mass storage and numerical algorithms for real-time execution and massively parallel optimization of quantitative trading strategies. In his spare time, he also consults with Los Alamos National Laboratory as a guest scientist and with other institutions on high performance scientific computing and plasma physics.

In 1997, Kevin received his BS in electrical engineering from Purdue University, graduating with highest distinction after five semesters. With support from the Fannie and John Hertz Fellowship, he received his MS ('99) and PhD ('01) in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley.
