As part of her thesis Kathryn developed new techniques for fabricating ultra-miniaturized transistors from graphene, a single atomic layer of carbon atoms arranged in a hexagonal lattice. Additionally while at Stanford, Kathryn served as Stanford’s community radio station Program Director and General Manager, producing and hosting a weekly interview show.

Kathryn is currently working at SRI International developing new applications of graphene and boron nitride membranes. Her other scientific interests include beyond-CMOS transistor technology, nanostructured materials, and renewable energy.
